UPDATE: SEAN WON!!! re Sean Bean Nominated for Best Male Actor at the Royal Television Society's Programme Awards 2012

As reported by several British media outlets, Sean, along with Lennie James and Oliver Lansley, have been nominated for Best Male Actor at the prestigious Royal Television Society's Programme Awards 2012. The awards will be given out at a ceremony on Tuesday 19 March at the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London.

Sean was nominated for his challenging & brilliant performance in BBC1's Accused episode "Tracie's Story," as English poetry teacher & transvestite Simon Gaskell / Tracie Tremarco. If you haven't yet seen this you need to! Excellent story by Jimmy McGovern, great cinematography & editing too.

It would be great to see Sean win this award!

Sharpe Sundays: Today Chosen Men unite for Sharpe's Rifles!

To portray a character and build it is every actor’s dream.  As such Sean Bean was given the opportunity to take the life of Richard Sharpe and history was made. To quote Bernard Cornwell: “ I began writing Sharpe in 1980 and he’s still going strong. I never thought there would be this many books – I imagined there might be ten or eleven – but then along came Sean Bean and the television programmes and I virtually began a whole new Sharpe series.

As we are aware that there are so many fans out there we thought it be extra fun to share this event. Besides Sean Bean has gained a new fanbase since his role in the 1st season of HBO series of Game of Thrones as Ned Stark who may never have seen him swing a sword as another!

Some heroes live FOREVER and are worth a regular revisit! As the series origin is in the UK we thought a time where both US and UK fans could connect would be :

Sharpe Classic Collection [DVD]: Αξίζει Να Το Βάλεις Στην Συλλογή Σου!

Ο Sharpe είναι ένας από τους επικότερους χαρακτήρες που έχει παίξει ποτέ ο Sean Bean. Αποφασίσαμε λοιπόν να αγοράσουμε τα συγκεκριμένα DVD από το Amazon.co.uk και μείναμε απόλυτα ευχαριστημένοι με την άψογη και καθαρή εικόνα, την υπέροχη συσκευασία και την γρήγορη παράδοσή του στον χώρο μας (σε δύο εβδομάδες ακριβώς). 

Περιέχει οχτώ DVD με αγγλικούς υπότιτλους (δεν μας πείραξε καθόλου που δεν είχε Ελληνικά διότι ήδη ξέραμε το σενάριο απ' έξω. Και εσάς όμως δεν θα σας δυσκολέψει καθόλου στην παρακολούθηση. 

Πιστεύουμε ότι πλέον οι περισσότεροι Έλληνες έχουν εξοικειωθεί με αυτό το θέμα. Και είναι καλύτερο να το βλέπεις στην original εκδοχή του. Δεν σας κρύβουμε ότι ψάξαμε βέβαια να την βρούμε και στα Ελληνικά αλλά δεν υπήρχε πουθενά. Ίσως αργότερα να προστεθούν και υπότιτλοι στην γλώσσα μας). Το κάθε DVD έχει δύο επεισόδια + άλλα δύο Bonus.

 To Sharpe πρωτοβγήκε το 1993 και πραγματικά εντυπωσιαστήκαμε από την υπέροχη ανάλυση, ειδικά του πρώτου επεισοδίου, που είναι και το παλαιότερο. Εάν αποφασίσετε να την αγοράσετε και εσείς δεν θα χάσετε! Θα προσθέσετε άλλο ένα αριστούργημα στην συλλογή σας και θα έχετε την ευκαιρία να δείτε τον Sean στα καλύτερά του όπως επίσης και την μεγάλη μάχη του Βατερλό έτσι ακριβώς όπως έγινε. Βασισμένη στα πραγματικά ιστορικά γεγονότα και στο στρατηγικό σχέδιο που ακολούθησε ο Δούκας του Ουέλινγκτον για να αντιμετωπίσει τον Ναπολέοντα. Επίσης η τιμή είναι πάρα πολύ καλή. Προλάβετε γιατί έχουν γίνει ανάρπαστα!

Η πιο πρόσφατη συνέντευξη του Sean Bean στον Τζόναθαν Ρός. Μίλησε για το ''Accused'', το ''Cleanskin'' (Το DVD έχει ήδη κυκλοφορήσει), για τον ρόλο του ως Boromir στο Lord Of The Rings. Και φυσικά ανέφερε το Sharpe και κάποια μυστικά από τα γυρίσματα της σειράς. 

Ο Ρός τον ρώτησε τι θυμάται από την εποχή που γύριζε τον Άρχοντα των Δαχτυλιδιών: “It was a long time ago, if you think about it. It was about eleven years ago now. When I first got the part, I didn’t realize how it was going to escalate into such a big epic number.”  Επίσης αποκάλυψε ότι τότε φοβόταν πάρα πολύ τα ύψη:  “I don’t like flying. I’m okay now that I’ve gotten used to it, but at that time, I was a little bit scared''. 

''That scene that you just saw, that was up on a mountain on some glaciers. And we had to go up in the helicopter with a glass bottom, and that was really scary for me. Whenever I could use any other means to get to the location, I would do. I used to get on my costume and the hair and everything, and then I would walk about a half an hour up quite a steep hill. And there was this ski lift, and so I’d sit on that and they’d wire me up. Dressed as Boromir! And they’d drop me off there and I’d hike another half a mile just because I didn’t want to get on the helicopter.”
