2013 BAFTA Leading Actor Nomination for Sean Bean!

This is GREAT, Sean has another nomination!! As reported by several British media outlets, 
Sean has been nominated for Leading Actor per his role as as English poetry teacher & transvestite Simon Gaskell / Tracie Tremarco in Accused's "Tracie's Story."
Co-star Stephen Graham is also nominated for Supporting Actor in that same episode.
The Arqiva British Academy Television Awards take place on Sunday 12 May at London’s Royal Festival Hall, and will be hosted by Graham Norton.

You really must see this episode if you haven't yet! Excellent story by Jimmy McGovern, great cinematography & editing too.

Sean Bean Completes Shooting of Trailer for Macbeth Adaption Film Enemy of Man

Remember when our Sean played Macbeth live on stage?

It was fabulous! And for years after there was talk of & proposals for him to star in a film version.

I'm so pleased to hear that there is finally some concrete news!
Word on this Monday past was that Sean finished shooting a trailer for film hopeful Enemy of Man (also titled Come Like Shadows at one point), a Shakespeare's Macbeth adaption by Vincent Regan, Jennifer Lee Carell, Nick Saunders and Pete Travis, with Sean once again playing Macbeth. 

Other cast listed so far are: James D'Arcy (Cloud Atlas, Master & Command: Far Side, Nicolas Nickleby) as Banquo; Rupert Grint (Harry Potter films) as Rosse; Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire, This Is England, Pirates of the Caribbean) as Macduff; Charlotte Gainsbourg (The Science of Sleep, Melancholia, Jane Eyre) as Lady Macbeth (this part was originally tapped for Tilda Swinton); Neil Maskell, and Sam Spruell.

Updates on that page are sparse but now that I know something definite is in motion, I have added it to my Watchlist. Details are available on mobile & device apps. It has 2013 attached but that will likely change, hopefully next year!

Sean Bean - Year in Review 2012

It was a very diverse & interesting results year for Sean! Some truly great performance moments by him, my faves are ticked by asterisks:

Sean Bean & Ashley Judd in Missing

*Missing. 10 episode global TV series about 2 ex-CIA parents looking for their kidnapped son. Sean was the father, Paul Winstone. The show had action & a few crazy twists mixed with flashbacks of the Winstone family story, but overall I really enjoyed it and regret it wasn’t renewed. Also starred Ashley Judd, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Keith Carradine.

Cleanskin

*Cleanskin. Indie feature film. Sean played Ewan Keane, a former British army now MI6 agent given the task of pursuing and eliminating a British-born suicide bomber and the terrorist cell. I thought this movie was awesome, packed in plenty of action & intrigue against an intelligent balanced plot. Definitely worth seeing! Also starred Charlotte Rampling, Abhin Galeya, Tom Burke.

Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, Mirror. Feature film. Another take on the Snow White fairy tale (evil queen, prince, princess, peasants). This was one of my “entertainment sacrifices,” I only saw this flick for Sean, who played Snow’s father, the King. However, it was better than I expected, I liked Snow (Lily Collins), the ending, and all the dwarfs. Also starred Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer, Nathan Lane.

Accused

*Accused. The acclaimed BBC TV series from Jimmy McGovern finally got Sean in its episode Tracie’s Story, as poetry teacher & transvestite Simon Gaskell / Tracie Tremarco. In the story Tracie meets Tony (Stephen Graham) after being harassed & falls in love with him; Tony is interested in Tracie, not Simon, and has another problem as well- he’s married. This performance was one of Sean’s most challenging & brilliant yet, I was absolutely thrilled with it! Great photography, too.

Bean, Monaghan, Cromwell, Rhames, Slater in Soldiers of Fortune

Soldiers of Fortune. Ltd release feature film. Sean played Roman St. John / Dimidov, a wealthy business owner who is offered, along with other wealthy men, the chance to be a part of an island revolution in return for his monetary investment. But the mission gets complicated as each man reveals his own agenda. I enjoyed this movie, lots of faves, the storyline was good & had plenty of action. Also starred Christian Slater, Ving Rhames, Dominic Monaghan, James Cromwell, Colm Meaney.

Adelaide Clemens & Sean Bean in Silent Hill: Revelation

Silent Hill: Revelation. 3D feature film. I really liked the 1st Silent Hill movie, looked forward to seeing this one, where Sean is now Harry Mason, changed name & on the run with his likewise renamed & now teenaged daughter Heather (Adelaide Clemens) who continues to have nightmarish flashes & dreams from her ordeal & possible future; events conspire & inevitably they get pulled back into the town’s terrifying alternate reality. Also starred Kit Harington, Carrie-Anne Moss.

Always in demand, Sean has more new projects in the pipe for us to enjoy, I look forward to a great 2013! Happy New Year!

Accused Review: Γιατί Ο Έρωτας Δεν Έχει Φύλο.

Και ξαφνικά εκεί που ψάχναμε αμέριμνοι νέα για τον Sean Bean πέφτουμε πάνω σε ένα δημοσίευμα βόμβα: ''Το κακό παιδί του Χόλιγουντ ετοιμάζεται να ντυθεί γυναίκα για τις ανάγκες ενός σίριαλ με το όνομα Accused''. 

Το Accused είναι ένα Βρετανικό Δράμα, βασισμένο στις ιστορίες διαφόρων ανθρώπων. Ο καθένας τους έχει διαπράξει ένα αδίκημα. Aφηγείται τα γεγονότα σε όλο το επεισόδιο και έπειτα κρίνεται από την Βρετανική Δικαιοσύνη. 

Μοιάζει πάρα πολύ με την ''Δέκατη Εντολή'' του Alpha, με την μόνη διαφορά ότι όλοι καταλήγουν στις δικαστικές αίθουσες. Κάποιοι αθωώνονται, άλλοι πάλι όχι.

Ακούγοντας λοιπόν αυτό το νέο, λίγο σοκαριστήκαμε και απορήσαμε τι επρόκειτο να δούμε. Διότι ο Sean όλα αυτά τα χρόνια μας έχει συνηθίσει σε τελείως διαφορετικούς ρόλους. 

Έφτασε η πρεμιέρα της σειράς και καθίσαμε με μεγάλη περιέργεια να την παρακολουθήσουμε. Και τότε καταλήξαμε στο ίδιο συμπέρασμα. Ότι είναι ένας πολύ μεγάλος ηθοποιός και παρόλο που διάλεξε να ντυθεί γυναίκα η εικόνα του δεν αλλοιώθηκε καθόλου.

Η υπόθεση επικεντρώνεται σε δύο χαρακτήρες. Τον δάσκαλο Αγγλικών με το όνομα Σάιμον και τον Τόνυ. Και οι δυο τους έχουν ένα κοινό σημείο. 

Ο πρώτος τα βράδια ντύνεται γυναίκα και γυρίζει στα μπαράκια για να βρει το ταίρι του και ο δεύτερος ενώ είναι παντρεμένος, συνεχίζει να έχει διαφορετικές σεξουαλικές προτιμήσεις.

Οι δρόμοι τους συναντιούνται τυχαία ένα βράδυ, όταν ο Τόνυ είχε πάει να γιορτάσει μαζί με τον αδερφό του την παραμονή του γάμου του, σε μία pub. Εκεί έτυχε να πίνει το ποτό της και η Τρέισι. 

Ξαφνικά ο αδερφός του Τόνυ σηκώνεται, πηγαίνει δίπλα της και αρχίζει να την βρίζει με τα χειρότερα λόγια (αναφερόμενος στην εμφάνισή της) . Ο Τόνυ όμως είναι εκείνος που θα της συμπαρασταθεί και αργότερα θα αναπτύξει μαζί της μία πολύ ξεχωριστή σχέση.

Αμέσως ο Σάιμον, ο μοναχικός κυριούλης της διπλανής πόρτας, αρχίζει να ελπίζει ότι η ζωή του θα αλλάξει. Άλλωστε η μοναξιά δεν είναι πάντα ο καλύτερος φίλος κανενός. Όμως ο Τόνυ δεν είναι αυτός που φαίνεται. 

Κρατάει μυστικά από την Τρέισι και δεν νιωθει τόσο περήφανος που είναι γκέι σε αντίθεση με εκείνη που πλέον έχει αποδεχτεί τον εαυτό της και δεν θέλησε ποτέ να κρύψει αυτό που πραγματικά είναι. Ίσως στην αρχή να ήταν δισταχτική, έπειτα όμως κατάλαβε πως με τα ψέματα δεν επέρχεται η ευτυχία.

Αυτή η εγωιστικότητα του Τόνυ είναι ο κυριότερος παράγοντας που θα φέρει τα πάνω κάτω στην συνέχεια.

Ο Sean Bean πιστεύουμε ότι είναι γεννημένος για να απαγγέλλει. Το είδαμε στο Equilibrium στην σκηνή όπου διαβάζει ένα υπέροχο απόσπασμα του W.B. Yeats ''He Wishes For The Clothes Of Heaven'', το είδαμε και στο Accused. 

Ως δάσκαλος ρομαντικής ποίησης παρουσιάζει στους μαθητές του δύο μεγάλα ποιήματα που έχουν ακουστεί σε πολλές σειρές του BBC στο παρελθόν, ποτέ όμως δεν ειπώθηκαν με τόσο όμορφο και ταξιδιάρικο τρόπο. 

Το ένα είναι το ''Daffodils'' του William Wordsworth και το άλλο είναι το αριστούργημα του Τένισον  ''Η Δεσποσύνη Του Σαλότ'' που όλοι γνωρίζετε.

Θα σας συγκινήσει πολύ αυτή η ιστορία, ιδιαίτερα όταν δείτε την στιγμή της διδασκαλίας. Πως συμπαρασύρει τους μαθητές - ακροατές του μέσα στο ουσιαστικότερο νόημα της αφήγησης. Ο τρόπος, η έκφραση, η δυναμικότητα των σκηνών αυτών είναι μοναδικές. 

Ο ρόλος του τραβεστί ποτέ δεν ήταν εύκολος για κανέναν ηθοποιό. O Sean έκανε μεγάλη προετοιμασία και πολλές συζητήσεις πριν τον αναλάβει. Κατάφερε για άλλη μία φορά να αγγίξει την καρδιά του κόσμου και πήρε τις καλύτερες κριτικές παγκοσμίως. Συζητάμε για μία ερμηνεία που αξίζει βραβείο, ειλικρινά. Και θα το κερδίσει, είμαστε σίγουροι γι' αυτό.

Η πρόταση μας για σήμερα είναι να δείτε την σειρά. Ο Bean παίζει μόνο στο πρώτο επεισόδιο ''Tracie's Story''. Έπειτα άμα θέλετε μπορείτε να δείτε και τα υπόλοιπα. 

Έχει επίσης γνωστά μουσικά θέματα, αποσπάσματα από τραγούδια διαφόρων Βρετανών καλλιτεχνών και ορχηστρικά. 

Θα ξεχωρίσετε και τον Stephen Graham, ο οποίος ενσαρκώνει τον ρόλο του Τόνυ φανταστικά. Δύο σπουδαίοι ηθοποιοί σε μία εξίσου σπουδαία παραγωγή.

Καλογυρισμένη, με προσεγμένη σκηνοθεσία, με σενάριο που περνάει αρκετά μηνύματα αντιρατσιστικού περιεχομένου το Accused έχει να μας προσφέρει πολλά. Τολμήστε το!

Ο Stephen Graham μιλάει για το ''Accused''

Ο συμπρωταγωνιστής του Sean Bean στο Accused μίλησε για τον ρόλο του ως Tony Banes στην Βρετανική Δραματική Σειρά του Jimmy McGovern. 

Ο σκηνοθέτης, το πολύ καλό σενάριο και η συμμετοχή του Sean Bean τον έκαναν να δεχτεί τον ρόλο. Εκτιμάει τον Jimmy McGovern και την υπέροχη δουλειά του. Άλλωστε μας έχει συνηθίσει πάντα σε πολύ καλές παραγωγές. 

''Χαίρομαι που μου δόθηκε η ευκαιρία να πάρω μέρος στην σειρά. Και για τον Sean ήταν ένα μεγάλο βήμα η μεταμόρφωσή του σε τραβεστί. Γιατί είναι ο Sharpe! Είναι ο εραστής της Lady Chatterley! Υπήρχε όμως μεγάλη εμπιστοσύνη πάνω σε αυτό το θέμα στα γυρίσματα. Είπαμε πως αν κάποια σκηνή απαιτούσε να φιληθούμε, θα προσπαθούσαμε να βοηθήσουμε ο ένας τον άλλον όσο μπορούσαμε! 

Όταν η δημοσιογράφος τον ρώτησε πως είναι να φιλάς τον Sean Bean απάντησε:

''Δεν θυμάμαι ότι το έκανα αυτό! Αλλά προφανώς για να με ρωτάς πρέπει να το έκανα! Υποθέτω ότι επικεντρώθηκα στην στιγμή εκείνη!''  (και γι' αυτό μάλλον ξέχασε όλα τα άλλα.. υπεκφυγές Stephen, υπεκφυγές! χαχα)
